In the late 2021 VCAT hearing RG Restaurants Pty Ltd versus Wyndham City Council concerning the development of a KFC restaurant at the Maltby bypass on Werribee’s southern outskirts, the Tribunal set-aside Council’s refusal and directed that a permit be issued. Choice Location Strategists had demonstrated that The project will employ 20-25 construction workers during a four-month build, equivalent to 7.5 FTE construction jobs. The economic stimulus of this construction is estimated to support 21 FTE equivalent jobs overall.  Upon completion, the restaurant is anticipated to provide on-going employment for 50-55 staff, and indirectly support a further FTE in the wider local economy. Choice Location Strategists contended that the addition of KFC will increase the range of food offer to passing motorists, complementing the existing McDonalds and Highway Lounge.
